The Real Power Of Twitter

Life Lessons 13 October 2009 | 4 Comments

Have you heard of the recent happenings and calamities in Asia? Most recently was the typhoon in the Philippines. It’s called Ondoy and then followed by more wicked, Pepeng. Both local names.

I have been living in Asia for most of my life and the Philippines is one of the places most dear to me. It pains me to see all these images of the damages of the flood especially to those that have lost everything.

This is where Twitter comes in. Twitter was the reason I found out about it as I was not in the country. We all know Twitter is very, very viral and once again it has touched millions. How? Look at these pictures.

These are tweets even after 2 weeks of the first typhoon.Even Krispy Kreme is joining and it went viral fast!

Within minutes of the calamity, people have spread the word about it and eventually moved people to help and aid other people. From Retweet to Retweet, the news just spread like wildfire. I tuned in a local radio station from the internet, and heard that they got an unbelievable reaction from the citizens because of social media, mainly Twitter and Facebook. The turnouts for volunteers and kind donations were overwhelming.

I don’t want to write a long post about this, this is not meant to be an SEO’d  post or whatever. I just wanted to tell you guys about how social media is really changing lives around the world.

This is, I think, the real reason why Twitter was created. It’s to unite the people and save lives on tweet at a time.

Twitter is definitely going to be the best for social media marketing as this is something that will definitely going to be the best for those who are having their online business.

Twitter does not provide link juice. Only because of their amazingly high pagerank, your tweets and also your Twitter profile page can get on the first page of Google simply with a good linking strategy
