Was It Meant To Be?

Definition/Recalibration 20 June 2009 | 6 Comments

This morning, I was free and really had nothing scheduled. I went to a friend’s apartment and hanged out for a while. Then when I said my goodbyes, I went to the hallway to ride the elevator down. I saw the elevator stopped at the 8th floor. I know it stopped there because you can tell the Up & Down Arrows we not lighted. I was at the 9th, so I lazily walked and didn’t rush to press the “down” button.

When my finger was like 1 centimeter away from the button, the Down Arrow at the top lighted up and the elevator proceeded to go down! I was too late by a millisecond.

I hated it. I especially didn’t like waiting when I was not supposed to!

So it got me thinking. Was it “meant to be?”

What if I worked a bit harder and ran so I could’ve pressed the button earlier? Then I would’ve been first right? So does that mean I “create my own destiny and that I control what happens?”

If you think about it, it would still be “meant to be” if it lighted up or not right?

So if you put it all together, I control my destiny because I worked for it but it’s still meant to be, if it’s meant to be. So you can’t really control your destiny meaning everything is meant to be!!!! *A light bulb lights up above my head!*

Seriously, I wanted to post this just to ask you guys what you believe in.

Go out there and take it….

Personally, I believe that both are relevant. Those sayings have been around for generations. I believe that taking a laid back life is ok, but please take action if you have to. I advise people to just believe about controlling their own destinies rather than not. Do not be trapped in the lazy mindset of relying on “meant to bes” believing whatever comes to your life is just meant to be. Go out there and take it or at least keep trying and strive for what you want. You’ll never know until you do.

So what do you believe in? Are you the one of the “Meant to Be’s?” Or “Do You Control Your Own Destiny?”

I’m a take action guy sometimes. But sometimes i just let things happen. Maybe that’s why I keep getting frustrated with my results.

  5. Whenever we say “it’s meant to be”, who do we think “meant” it to be? :-) It is us. We meant it to be, we took serious thoughts, we took inspired actions, we wanted it TO BE.
