Pinging
To Ping a server or site simply means notifying a number of servers that the site’s content has been updated.

This is one of the most basic, yet easily forgotten methods by people that publish content online. Many blog platforms nowadays

ping ip

Why would you like to ping sites or links?

  • It Gets Your Site Indexed

Basically, spiders or what others call bots, are notified and it goes to your site to check out the new stuff you put there and it will report to the search engines, directories or whatever the service is.

You will always want to get your site indexed. If you’re site is not, then it’s like having a Benz parked in your secret garage that only you know it exists. How can you earn money, if people don’t even know your business is there right?

Nowadays, it’s not as easy like 4 years ago, that when you publish content, your site will instantly appear in the Google search results.

To check if your site is indexed already, type this in Google.
site:InsertYourSiteNameHere   (Eg. Site:www.GetMeIndexed.com)

  • It Might Help You Rank Better

Notifying these spiders or bots, and getting to be the first one to do so obviously puts you ahead of everyone who is trying to get indexed with that same keyword.

There’s a long queue and once the spiders get to you before someone else, then that puts you ahead of the pact. Something like that….

  • It Gets Your Links Indexed

Now everyone online that own sites know how important backlinks (links pointing back to your site from other sites) are. These will determine how Google sees your site. The more links, the better and more important it looks and the higher you will rank which means more traffic and potentially more money for you.

Of course, if your site is new, don’t get ahead of yourself and send a thousand backlinks to your site immediately. You will not even get indexed, or you might get deindexed.

4 Ways on How To Ping a Server

1. Automatic Blog Pings
Here are some site update services you can put in your Wordpress Blog and to plug them in if you still haven’t.

Go to your Wordpress Dashboard and click on Settings and then Writing.

At the bottom, there’s something called “Update Services” so plug these in.

2. Manual Notifications

3. Softwares
- Senuke (Damn in love with this software….will write a full review soon. Might split it up into two parts or more as it is very powerful)
Senuke will ping the sites you create with it, including RSS, Social Bookmarking Sites and Profiles.

- There’s more but utterly not worth it to be mentioned if it were only used for pinging….might as well do the next one I’ll be teaching you.

4. Your Own Custom Ping Button
Now this is an exclusive here…..or not :)
If you want to make money online, you must be using Firefox or at least have it in your computer. I prefer that and Safari for online businesses, sorry IE fanboys.

  • Open up your Browser.
  • See that bar underneath the URL box? It must be full of crap links to Mozilla or Google or Yahoo.
  • Right click on those, delete them….I hate clutter :)
  • That’s just optional….you can keep them messy like that…just playin’ with you
  • Right click on an empty space of the bar
  • Click New Bookmark
  • Paste the following code in the “Location” text box

javascript:location.href=’http://pingomatic.com/ping/

?%20%20title=’+encodeURIComponent(document.title)

%20%20+’&blogurl=’+encodeURIComponent(location.href)

%20%20+’&chk_weblogscom=on&chk_blogs=on

&chk_technorati=on&chk_feedburner=on

&chk_syn%20%20dic8=on&chk_newsgator=on

&chk_myyahoo=on&chk_pubsubcom=on

&chk_blogdigger=on%20%20

&chk_blogrolling=on&chk_blogstreet=on

&chk_moreover=on

&chk_weblogalot=on&chk_ice%20%20rocket=on

&chk_newsisfree=on

&chk_topicexchange=on&chk_google=on

&chk_tailrank=on

&%20%20chk_bloglines=on&chk_aiderss=on

&chk_skygrid=on

&chk_audioweblogs=on&chk_rubhub=%20%20on

&chk_geourl=on&chk_a2b=on&chk_blogshares=on’

  • Now name it “Ping Button” or whatever you want.
  • Save it.
  • Take Note: That is just one whole code. I separated it because some browsers can’t read it when I post it straight up.

Now you have your own custom ping button!
Go on! Try it out! Go to a page of your site, then click that button!

It’s that simple! I like simple!

This will get you indexed most of the time so don’t forget to do it ok?

How about you? Do you ping your content?
